主讲人简介：

Richard Jardine，英国帝国理工学院工程院院长，土木与环境系常务副系主任教授，也是国际知名的岩土工程专家，英国皇家工程院院士，同时还是英国土木工程师学会和英国城市公会资深会员。

其主要研究方向为：土的基本特性、室内和现场试验、近海工程、桩基础工程、软土工程、防灾减灾工程以及岩土工程测试系统研究开发等。是ICP海洋桩基设计理论和方法的创始人。他也是一位国际学术界的知名活动家，是多个国际专业学会会员和国际著名期刊编委，并担任多个学校的访问客座教授.

Richard Jardine took his three degrees at Imperial College London and, after six years in practice, joined the academic staff in 1984 progressing to Professor of Geomechanics in 1998, Head of Geotechnics in 2005 and Dean/Consul for Engineering from 2012 to 2015. He is currently Deputy Head of Civil Engineering. His research covers offshore geotechnics, soil characterisation, field instrumentation, soft ground engineering, geohazards and climate change impact. He has also acted as Consultant on many major projects. He is a Royal Academy of Engineering Fellow, has won 17 UK and International research prizes and published well over 200 papers. He sits on three ISSMGE Technical Committees, having chaired TC-101 (Advanced Soil Testing) for nine years, and also on specialist International Offshore Engineering (API, ISO and SUT) Committees. He has acted as a Visiting Professor in Singapore, Hokkaido (Japan) and currently Zhejiang and Wenzhou Universities, where he is supported by the Chinese Ministry of Education as a Distinguished Overseas Scholar. His recent keynotes include the Bishop Lecture (Paris 2013), the ASCE Sowers Lecture (Atlanta 2014) and the 2016 Rankine Lecture.
