研讨会内容：
1）Understanding Academic Publishing (张靖, Elsevier出版人)
In this short presentation, 3 main areas will be covered: the process of scholarly publishing, publishing in International Journal of Fatigue and Publishing ethics.
2）Achieving a Good Research Methodology and Excellent Papers (Neil James, TOP期刊主编)
This presentation focuses on four distinct areas that are important in an academic career; firstly, two techniques to optimise planning of a research project. One of these techniques is based on techniques learnt at Harvard Business School to optimise decision making. Secondly, the seminar discusses some common pitfalls that are often present in poorly written papers. Thirdly, it deals with the various sections that constitute an excellent research paper and, fourthly, it discusses the important role of reviewing outlining the purpose of the review process and how it should be done so that authors are assisted to optimise the impact of their papers.

报告人简介：
张靖博士作为Elsevier出版人，负责统筹管理固体力学、工程学等领域15个学术期刊的选题与策划编辑，包括：制定选题维护、发展与成长的目标与策略，学术社团工作，以及与编辑、作者、审稿人的联络与沟通。同时，张博士还负责2个Elsevier会议，统筹协调地方和国际力学学会。
M Neil James教授是TOP期刊《International Journal of Fatigue》合作主编，《Engineering Failure Analysis》、《Frattura ed Integrità Strutturale》、《The Open Mechanical Engineering Journal》、《Journal of Engineering Research and Forensic Engineering》等国际期刊编委。James教授先后担任Plymouth大学副校长、科技委员会副主任、工学院院长、海洋科技学院院长等职务。发表学术论文与著作160余篇/部，被邀请在国际学术大会做了一系列邀请报告，是英国、美国、南非、荷兰、新西兰等国际工程失效事故分析评价的顾问专家。
