Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and in accordance with regulations such as the Constitution of the All-China Students' Federation, the Reform Plan for Student Union Organizations, the Several Opinions on Promoting the Deepening of Reforms for University Student Unions (Graduate Student Unions), and the Several Measures on Consolidating the Reform Outcomes of University Student Unions (Graduate Student Unions), Zhejiang University of Technology has established the Zhejiang University of Technology Student Union. Since its inception, the Student Union has consistently adhered to the unified leadership of the University Party Committee and the specific guidance of the University Youth League Committee and the Provincial Students' Federation. Upholding the motto Do my best, all for you, the Student Union is committed to providing comprehensive services for the student body. In recent years, it has continuously innovated its working models and enriched its activity formats, striving to build a broad stage for the growth and development of young students. It has participated in organizing a series of signature events such as the first Teacher-Student Festival, the Music Fashion Gala, and the Campus Proposal Competition, aiming to create a distinctive campus culture brand that serves as an important platform for enhancing student experience and elevating the university's influence. Through these activities, the Student Union actively explores the ZJUT Model characterized by student-oriented, student-participated principles, striving to ensure that initiatives are rooted in students, inspired by students, and powered by students, so that a broader student population can benefit. Currently, the primary promotional channel for the Zhejiang University of Technology Student Union is its official WeChat public account.

The Zhejiang University of Technology Student Union represents the undergraduate and postgraduate student body within the university and is widely recognized by both students and faculty. In terms of service functions, the Student Union organizes activities centered on student needs, covering academic, daily life, cultural, and sports domains. For example, initiatives like the Academic Ace Check-in Program, Campus Singing Competition, and Campus Fluorescent Night Run directly address the daily needs of both undergraduates and postgraduates, making both groups feel seen and heard. Regarding feedback mechanisms, the Student Union has established channels for collecting opinions, such as online questionnaires and offline symposiums. It regularly relays student suggestions on teaching arrangements, cafeteria services, and campus facilities to relevant university departments, promoting problem-solving. This role of communicating upwards and implementing downwards allows teachers and students to see its value in representing the student voice, thereby fostering recognition. In terms of participation, events organized by the Student Union, such as the Teacher-Student Festival and basketball tournaments, enjoy high participation rates, with students actively and enthusiastically taking part. As the most influential, largest-scale, longest-running, and most participated-in event of the Student Union, the 2025 Sunrise · Heshan Music Festival and Zhejiang University of Technology TOP10 Campus Music Fashion Gala was held for the first time on an outdoor lawn. The freer space and more vibrant atmosphere allowed the rhythm of youth to resonate with the poetry of nature. Simultaneously, the festival was live-streamed on Z-View, the new media video platform under Zhejiang Radio and Television Group, enhancing the event's reach. The annual online promotional series accumulated over 36,000 reads, attracted nearly 3,000 on-site attendees and over 30,000 online viewers, with the WeChat Channel review series garnering over 12,000 views, once again sparking a wave of campus culture (https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/dC4vAoeuDKA-VpLm7q-ceQ).
The Zhejiang University of Technology Student Union is affiliated with the broader national student federation organization. The Student Union fundamentally adheres to relevant documents of the All-China Students' Federation (ACSF), integrating the ACSF's requirements throughout its entire workflow. It strictly follows the ACSF constitution and reform directives, anchoring its organizational direction. In terms of organizational structure, the ACSF is the official organization coordinating student unions nationwide, and its member units must comply with standardized organizational frameworks and operational guidelines. The Zhejiang University of Technology Student Union establishes its working systems in accordance with the ACSF constitution, such as regularly convening Student Congresses and defining leadership responsibilities, meeting the ACSF's entry standards and possessing the organizational basis for affiliation. Regarding operational coordination, the Student Union actively participates in unified activities initiated by the ACSF, such as the Three Down to the Countryside social practice and Return to Hometown volunteer services. The themes and organizational requirements of these activities align with ACSF deployments, reflecting the operational linkage between upper and lower-level bodies.

The leadership of the Zhejiang University of Technology Student Union is elected, and students can participate through voting. The Student Union strictly adheres to democratic election principles, establishing a complete process from delegate election to leadership formation, ensuring students can participate in leadership selection through democratic means like voting. A democratic foundation of full participation provides the premise for voting rights. The core prerequisite for electing the Student Union leadership is the election of Student Congress delegates with broad representation, and the delegate election process fully safeguards students' voting participation rights. According to the Review Report on the Qualifications of Delegates to the 21st Student Congress of Zhejiang University of Technology (Draft), the entire university is divided into 22 electoral units and 5 delegations. Each electoral unit, under the leadership of its respective Party organization and the guidance of the Youth League organization, elected 237 formal delegates through secret ballot, competitive election. These delegates represent various schools, grades (59.1% freshmen, 32.0% sophomores, 8.9% juniors), genders (56.1% female), and include Party members (7.6%). All are students with high political awareness, strong service orientation, and dedication to student work. The election process for these delegates, conducted through student voting, not only safeguards the voting rights of students in each electoral unit but also lays the democratic foundation for subsequent leadership elections.
