Zhejiang University of Technology continuously advances the construction of a modern university governance system and actively improves internal democratic management and supervision mechanisms. In important management and decision-making processes of the university, relevant systems have been established for student representatives to participate. For instance, during significant meetings such as the university’s mid-level cadre conferences, in addition to party and administrative leaders, academicians, experts, scholars, all mid-level cadres, representatives of democratic parties, delegates to party congresses at various levels, people’s congress deputies, members of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and heads of academic and research institutions, the executive chairpersons of the university’s student union and graduate student union also attend as student representatives. This arrangement reflects the university’s emphasis on listening to and incorporating the opinions and suggestions of young students in matters related to the reform and development of the institution, safeguarding students’ rights to participate in the democratic management and supervision of the university in accordance with laws and regulations.
Including student representatives in the scope of attendees at important university meetings is one of the specific measures taken by Zhejiang University of Technology to implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education and adhere to the student-centered educational philosophy.
