The unveiling ceremony of the Exeter Joint College of Zhejiang University of Technology was held at the Moganshan campus on the afternoon of January 16th. Lisa Roberts, the President of the University of Exeter, Cai Yuanqiang, the President of ZJUT, Zheng Hua, the Vice President, and Wang Jianfeng, the county magistrate of Deqing attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by the head of the Exeter Joint College of ZJUT.
Cai Yuanqiang stated that the joint college will leverage the profound accumulation of ZJUT in engineering and the high-quality educational resources of the Moganshan campus, and integrate the world-class teaching and research strength of the University of Exeter to build a bridge connecting the cultural heritage of West Lake and the academic tradition of Britain. He expressed the hope that the two universities could use the joint college as a link to carry out deeper, broader and more vigorous cooperation and jointly create a model of Sino-British higher education cooperation.
Lisa Roberts said that the establishment of the joint college is not only a milestone of the long-term friendly cooperation between the two universities, but also a new starting point for Sino-British higher education to jointly address global challenges and cultivate future talents. Wang Jianfeng expressed the hope that the university and the local area could achieve resonance and mutual progress.
The ceremony also included the unveiling of the Exeter Joint College of Zhejiang University of Technology and the International Joint Laboratory. After the ceremony, the delegation from the University of Exeter visited the office and the second-phase site of the joint college.
It is reported that the Exeter Joint College of Zhejiang University of Technology will offer undergraduate programs in Energy and Environmental Systems Engineering, Data Science and Big Data Technology, and Digital Media Technology, as well as postgraduate programs in Energy and Power, and Electronic Information. The first batch of students will be admitted in the autumn of this year.
