On June 5, 2024, coinciding with World Environment Day, CAST Alliance for Ecological and Environmental Sciences and Industry held a press conference in Beijing to announce the top ten scientific advances in ecology and environment in China for 2023. Gao Xiang, president of Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and his team’s project “Key Technologies and Applications of Clean and Low-carbon Ships” was selected as the top ten scientific and technological advances in China’s ecological environment in 2023.
More than 20 media outlets, including People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, and CCTV, covered the conference. The event was simultaneously broadcast live on Guangming Online and the Science Popularization China APP, attracting a total of 3.75 million viewers.
