On September 10th, 2024, Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT) held an appointment ceremony at the Pingfeng campus library, appointing Philippe De Maeyer, a member of the Royal Academy of Belgium and professor at Ghent University, as a Distinguished Professor. Gao Xiang, President and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, presented the appointment certificate to Philippe De Maeyer. Professor Jean Bourgeois from the Department of Archaeology of Ghent University, Belgium, researcher Elisir Korban from Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, heads of International Exchange and Cooperation Department, School of Geographic Information and other relevant units attended the appointment ceremony.
Gao Xiang noted that since ZJUT and Ghent University signed a memorandum of inter-university cooperation in 2018, both universities have achieved significant results in joint graduate training, and Philippe De Maeyer’s appointment as a Distinguished Professor of ZJUT will further enhance cooperation between the two universities.
