ZJUT Publishes Another Article in Nature: “A LaCl3-Based Lithium Superionic Conductor Compatible with Li Metal”

Time: 0406 ,2023

Recently, Professor Tao Xinyong’s research group at the Institute of New Energy Materials and Technology in the College of Materials Science and Engineering of Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT), collaborated with Professor Yao Hongbin’s group and Professor Li Zhenyu’s group from the University of Science and Technology of China. They jointly published a research paper in Nature titled A LaCl3-based lithium superionic conductor compatible with Li metal. The study reveals a new type of solid-state electrolyte material based on lanthanide metal halides, LixMyLnzCl3 (Ln represents lanthanide metal elements, and M represents non-lanthanide metal elements).

Professors Yao Hongbin and Li Zhenyu from the University of Science and Technology of China and Professor Tao Xinyong from ZJUT are the co-corresponding authors of this paper. Professor Tao Xinyong’s research group at ZJUT was mainly responsible for the microstructure characterization (cryo-electron microscopy observation) of the all-solid-state lithium battery materials and the study of interface stability mechanisms. Other related research results have been recently published in journals such as Science and Nature Energy. (Paper Link: doi: 10.1038/s41586-023-05899-8).
