On 31 August, with an overall investment of 2.83 billion yuan, the construction of Deqing campus of Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT) kicked off in Deqing County, which marked a memorable date in the history of ZJUT.
The ZJUT Deqing campus covers an area of 664,022 square metres, with a total floorage of 401,498 square metres (including an underground space of 32,016 square metres). This project is designed to cater for 10 thousand on-campus students, which includes classroom buildings, library, student and staff activities centre, dining halls, gymnasiums and students' apartments, etc.
Deqing campus is designed under the concepts of being open and digitalized, following the university motto of “Hou DeJian Xing”, which means “advocating virtue and practice”. It presents a style of “new classics and tastes of south of the Yangtze River”with a sense of academia and history.
The new campus combines local culture and natural wetland together. After meticulous design and organization, it could become an innovative and international university campus.
ZJUT collaborates with the Deqing government on this project, in order to build Deqing campus into a “Silicon Valley in Northern Zhejiang”, which is located in Northern Zhejiang, serving Zhejiang and impacting the “Yangtze River Delta”.
