From Dec.1st to Dec. 3rd, the 3rd Chinese Youth Volunteer Project Competition (CYVPC) was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang province. Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT) won a Silver Medal for its entry work, ‘Green Angels Around You (GAAY)’—Environmental Education for Pupils.
Launched in 2002, the GAAY project has been holding environmental education activities through a combination of course teaching and experimental teaching, assisted by practical curriculums like wastes reformation, environmental protection innovation, and so on.
During the last three years, about 2,100 people were engaged in volunteering work of this project with a total voluntary time of more than 16,000 hours.
In 2007, the GAAY project won second prize for ‘Ford Environmental Protection Award’ of Environmental Education Section. In 2008, with more than 5,000 copies published, its book Environmental Protection—Green Angels Around You was widely acclaimed by the public.
It was reported that 38 units at the provincial level participated in this competition and finally 504 projects advanced to the National Finals.
