Recently, CCTV has reported that the animated film Magic Train enjoyed popularity in China International Cartoon & Animation Festival. This 87-minute animated film took 5 years of hard work by the Cartoon &Animation Research Center of the College of Art at ZJUT, China Academy of Art, Zhejiang Gongshang University, Zhejiang University of Science and Technology and several other universities in Hangzhou.
The heroin of Magic Train is a Chinese girl called Linlin who has grown up abroad. The film centers around her behaviors in China, mainly around her observations and wonderful experiences on a train during her travels. With special artistic techniques of animation, this film combines the traditional Chinese culture and the modern life, presenting various unique artistic aspects. It is also very entertaining and full of artistic appeal.
On the evening of April 28, Magic Train was shown in Hangzhou Grand Theater in the opening ceremony of the Cartoon &Animation Festival. Xiao Gang, Vice President of ZJUT, attended the opening ceremony and watched this film. Besides, the School of Art organized a seminar on film production. Jia Leilei, Vice President of Chinese National Academy of Arts, Huangpu Yichuan, Editor-in-Chief of Contemporary Cinema, Yang Xiaoxuan, Deputy General Manager of IQIYI, Professor Pan Jian, from the school of Humanities at Zhajiang University, Zhu Fangsheng, Dean of Jiangnan Film and Television Art College, were invited to discuss about film production in the seminar.
Since it was produced in January, the film Magic Train has won the Excellent Animated Film Award in San Francisco International Film Festival, the third prize in Athens International Animation Festival, and has got nominated for four awards in The Spain Madrid International Film Festival and so on. From April 25, it will be screened in Zhejiang Star Lights Cinema and Zhejiang Time Cinema.
