On July 20, a ceremony was held at the Pinfeng campus to appoint the Consul General of Hungary in Shanghai, Parr Peter Schmidt, as an Honorary Professor of Zhejiang University of Technology. The principal Zhang Libin attended the ceremony, as well as the relevant personnel of the Hungarian Consulate General, the relevant person in charge of school personnel, and international exchange and Cooperation Department.
Zhang awarded Schmidt the letter of appointment of honorary professor of ZJUT. He fully affirmed Schmidt’s contribution to promote bilateral exchanges between Hungary and China and thanked him for helping establish relations of cooperation between ZJUT and universities in Hungary, research institutions and other social organizations, and carry out academic exchanges and scientific research together.
Schmidt felt honored to be named an Honorary Professor, and said he would promote and introduce ZJUT to Hungary and provide a broad channel of communication for our school and the people of Hungary, which will promote bilateral and substantive cooperation.
During the ceremony, a representative from ZJUT introduced Schmidt’s personal resume and his contribution towards promoting educational, cultural, economic, scientific and other areas of cooperation between Hungary and China.
Parr Peter Schmidt resume includes Foreign Policy Adviser to the Hungarian Prime Minister, International Office Director of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Economic Relations Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Department of the Hungarian Prime Minister Office, and, most recently, became the Consul General of Hungary in Shanghai from September, 2013.
