On June 21st, the 2014 graduation ceremony was held in the stadium at Pingfeng campus to bid farewell to postgraduates, undergraduates and overseas students who have finished their studies successfully and are going to embrace a brand-new life.
Our leaders were all present at the ceremony, including Party Secretary Mei Xinlin, President Zhang Libin, Deputy Party Secretaries Xiao Ruifeng and He Zhiyun, Disciplinary Official Lu Zhanglu, Vice Presidents Hua Ertian, Chen Jie, and Li Xiaonian. Major staff, tutors, assistants, teachers and all the graduates also attended the ceremony, presided over by Deputy Party Secretary He Zhiyun.
Zhang Libin delivered his speech with great enthusiasm. He used the word commencement to explain the meaning of graduation ceremony. The graduation was not an end but, instead, another start as one would enter a new period of life. Zhang reviewed the growth of the graduates during the four years and said with emotion: “All of you worked hard at ZJUT. You not only leave your sweat and passion but also your spirit to pursue the truth to us. You have witnessed ZJUT distinguish itself from its 167 competitors and enlist the first 2011 plan which only includes 14 universities throughout the country. And I still remember that last year, at almost the same time, we were very honored and pleased to see that our university was honored as the first participants of 2011 plan, which was the start of our dreams, and we hoped to develop ZJUT into a higher stage.” He pointed out that ZJUT would always offer strong support to its graduates in the future whenever possible.
Zhang Libin also had three hopes for graduates. First, be a knowledge seeker. Graduates should keep learning and think independently. They should use rationality to tell the truth and always be the pioneer of the times. Second, be benevolent and without unnecessary worries. The motto of “value, morality, and practice” should always be kept in mind as one moves forward, determinedly, towards achieving his life goal. Third, be a brave person. One should go straight ahead and pursue his dreams, which were an integral part of China Dream. Youth and strength should be contributed to making the country prosperous and people happy. At last, Zhang referred to Tagore’s words, “No matter how far you travel, your heart is always with mine. At dusk, no matter how long the shadow of the tree is, it is always with roots.” He said to 2014 session students, “ZJUT will never be a faded logo, and it will always stay with you through thick and thin. ZJUT is your life- long harbor and will give you support and warmth forever.”
Then, College of Architecture teacher, and winner of the school’s “My Favorite Teacher” and” My Best Tutor”, Li Jun, gave a speech. Followed by speeches from student representatives Gong Dewei from Jianxing College and Lv Xiaojing from the College of Chemistry.
Mr. Mei Xinlin read the document to praise the outstanding students, and the leaders in our university issued students certificates.

This year in our university, there are 5,326 undergraduates, 1,511 graduates and 226 oversea students in total.
